King Charles III coronation celebrated on Sark

Last weekend saw the Bank Holiday for the coronation of King Charles III coincide with Guernsey’s Liberation Day to create an extended weekend whilst Sark’s Liberation Day was celebrated on Wednesday 10th May 2023. Coronation celebrations were held in hospitality businesses and private homes across the weekend with the event being shown in the Island Hall followed by Islanders taking part in the Big Lunch initiative on Sunday before a push for the Big Help Out, a drive for volunteering by the monarch.

The Chelsea Pensioners and the Gurkhas visited Sark on Monday with a picnic planned, though due to bad weather this had to be held in the main Hall, before they returned again on Wednesday to celebrate the island’s Liberation Day. The Gurkhas performed their Khukuri dance also with a martial arts display and this year we also The Gurkhas had a martial arts display.
