Sark Sheep Racing 2023 sees yet another successful year

Sark Sheep Racing 2023 was officially opened by His Excellency Lt. Governor of the Bailiwick of Guernsey, Lt. General Richard Cripwell who was joined by his wife for a team photo before enjoying the racing itself. Inclement weather did not stop a good time being had by all last weekend; unfortunately, the Manche Iles boat was cancelled though the ferries from Guernsey were relatively full.

A spokesperson for the organisers said:
‘Thank you to the Bar‚ Shepherds‚ Hot Food and Tea Tent‚ Gates and Toilets‚ Stalls‚ Messy Church, Tote‚ Banking, Media and Carting and Building teams for all your time and energy. Over 100 volunteers helped put together one of the largest events in Sark’s
social calendar. City Limits played on Friday and again for over four hours on Saturday and entertained young and not so young. You guys are amazing, thank you.
A massive thank you to all those who came along and supported us. The committee were overwhelmed again this year by your generosity and for making it such an enjoyable weekend, and to the generosity of our sponsors and all those who donated cakes‚ sandwiches‚ equipment‚ prizes and not forgetting artwork and a great location.
Sark Sheep Racing represents the best of Sark because it is such a community event. The weather conspired against us but that didn’t dampen the spirits of those who came. We missed you Jersey but hopefully we will see you in 2024.
Sark Sheep Racing raises funds for the Professor Charles Saint Sark Medical Trust, which subsidizes prescription medicines for Sark residents. All will be revealed later on in the year at the Sark Cheque Presentation Evening. Thank EWE.’
