Sark’s Electoral Register closes today

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, so they say! Sark’s Chief Pleas launched its own ‘Sark Newspaper’ this week highlighting the effects of the recent legislation amendments that took only an astonishing five weeks to be drafted, approved and acted into law. Not only has the voting age been reduced from 18 to 16 but, if you have lived on Sark for 24 consecutive months from any time since the age 13 and are aged 18 or over and on the electoral register, you can now stand for election as Conseiller.

The short nomination window for candidates to the island’s government opens on Monday 28th November 2022 and closes on Friday 2nd December 2022; should there be a contested election, voting will take place on Wednesday 14th December 2022.
