Sark’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations go off with a bang

The jubilee celebrations on Sark went off spectacularly with only some thanks to the weather and a lot of thanks to the hard work of the organisers. Thursday 2nd June 2022 saw Sark’s ‘town crier’, Peter Plummer, launch the extended Bank Holiday weekend on the Avenue before live music from Underdog and the lighting of the Jubilee beacon took place in Chris Rangs’ field near to the campsite. Friday 5th June 2022 saw a sterling turnout for the bring and share street party on the Avenue considering the inclement weather but Islanders did not let that spoil the fun in honour of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s 70th Platinum Jubilee. Organisers said online:
‘Just a few thank you’s to all involved in our Platinum Jubilee celebrations but a special thanks to these people and businesses in particular: Sark Shipping, Underdog, Chris Rang, Sally Hutchins, Ringo and Terry, The Mermaid, Jess Hester, Stocks, Paul Williams, Sark Visitor Centre, Food Stop, Hatters, Time and Tide, Helen Plummer, Jimmy’s Carting, Island Deliveries, Sark Audio and Lighting, Ash Jarman, Kevin and Simon Adams, Sark Theatre Group, Sark Sheep Race, Sark Sanctuary Centre, Sark Electricity, Sark Estate Management and all of our volunteers and everyone who supported us in anyway to make this weekend a fabulous community event.’
